Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland and the second most visited tourist destination in the UK, after London.

Although it has a resident population of just over 500,000, these numbers double every summer, when it is the Edinburgh Festival. This is actually a collection of lots of smaller festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe, which is the largest festival of performing arts in the world. Other popular attractions at this time include the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the Film Festival and the Edinburgh International Festival.
